Stanford Hills Presents

SunsetSessions

Live music among the vineyards of Stanford Hills.

Some moments aren't explained.They're experienced.

Sunset Sessions is not something you attend. It is an afternoon you spend, in a place that does most of the work — vines on one side, mountains on the other, and the last few hours of light in between.

The experience

Not a festival.Not a night out.A sunset tradition.

It starts in the afternoon and ends while there is still light in the sky. In between: a lawn, a mountain, a set that peaks exactly as the sun goes, and several hundred people who all decided to be here instead of somewhere else.

Music
Artists who are better outdoors than they are indoors.
Nature
A working wine farm, not a field with a fence around it.
Food & wine
Local vendors, estate wine, and enough time to enjoy both.
Family
Daylight hours and open lawn. Everyone comes, nobody is bored.
Guests on picnic blankets beside the vineyard, with the mountains behind the stretch tent
Peak at sunset. Home before night.

The rhythm of the day

The sun drops. The music rises.

  1. 15:00

    Gates open

Arrive. Find your spot on the lawn. Something to eat, something cold, no hurry.

  2. 17:00

    Opening act

Two hours in, the afternoon finds its rhythm. Shadows get longer. So do the conversations.

  3. 18:00

    Main act

The sun drops. The music rises. This is the hour people come back for.

  4. Before dark

    Home

The last song lands while there is still light in the sky. Drive home in it.

The venue

The venue is partof the performance.

Stanford Hills sits in a natural bowl. The lawn falls away toward the stage, the vines run out behind it, and the mountains close the frame. The stage faces west — which is why the last set finishes exactly as the light does.

The venue isn't behind the performance. It's part of it.

Food & wine

Come hungry.Stay for sunset.

Local vendors set up on the lawn from the moment the gates open, and the bars pour estate wine, cold beer and something with ice in it for the walk back up the hill.

No outside food or beverages are permitted — everything you need is here, and it is made ten minutes from where you are sitting.

People

This is whatsummer looks like.

Summers we remember
Two guests watching the stage in warm afternoon light
“That sunset during the final song…”
A mother and daughter on the lawn with the mountains behind them
A guest laughing in the crowd during a set
A father and small child at the front of the crowd
“It's officially part of our December holiday now.”
A guest with a cold drink in the late afternoon sun
A guitarist playing among the crowd on the lawn
Two friends laughing against an open blue sky
“The kids danced the entire afternoon.”
The crowd packed in front of the stage with hands in the air

This is what summer looks like. Families, couples, groups of friends who booked the same weekend again before they left.

The crowd silhouetted in warm backlight as the sun drops behind the stage

A song you remember.A sunset you don't forget.

What began over a decade ago as a single concert is now a December tradition in the Overberg. People return year after year for the same feeling — familiar, and never quite the same. Most of this summer’s line-up is returning too.
