Albert Frost & Dan Patlansky

Two of South Africa’s most celebrated guitarists on one stage, for a single afternoon and evening in the Overberg. Both are known for fearless, soulful playing — blues, rock and roots in sets that stay raw and alive — and both have spent years building a following the slow way, on the road and on record.

This session

Together they promise something rarer than two good sets: two distinct voices trading licks, swapping the spotlight and pushing each other into the kind of spontaneous playing you only get live. Doors at 15:00, so come early, claim your spot and let the afternoon unfold. Then, as the sun goes down over the Overberg, expect searing solos, heartfelt songs and plenty of crowd favourites.

This is the session for anyone who came to listen rather than sing along — the one where the playing, not the crowd, is the loudest thing on the lawn.

The artists

Albert Frost

Blues rock · South Africa

Albert Frost joined The Blues Broers in 1994, at seventeen, and has not stopped since. Six solo records — Catfish, Devils & Gods, Live In Grahamstown, The Wake Up, Sacred Sound — and a long list of albums made alongside Koos Kombuis, Arno Carstens and Anton Goosen. The Wake Up won the SAMA for Best Rock Album in 2017.

He played the 2025 season on 26 December, with Arno Carstens. He returns on 20 December 2026 opposite Dan Patlansky — a pairing the estate has been building toward, and the session where the playing will be the loudest thing on the lawn.

Dan Patlansky

Blues rock · Johannesburg

Dan Patlansky picked up a guitar at fourteen, raised on his parents’ records — Clapton and Peter Green, B.B. and Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hendrix — and had his first band together by sixteen. His debut Standing at the Station came out in 1999; True Blues followed on Blue Note in 2004. Alongside Joe Bonamassa, he is one of only a handful of artists worldwide to have taken two number ones and two number twos on Blues Rock Review’s Best Blues Rock Album lists.

In 2014 he was hand-picked to open for Bruce Springsteen at FNB Stadium, in front of roughly 64,000 people. In 2015 Joe Satriani took him across the UK on the Shockwave arena tour.

He is the only act on the 2026 season who did not play in 2025 — and he arrives sharing a stage with Albert Frost. If you came for the playing rather than the singalong, this is your afternoon.

How theafternoon runs.

  1. 15:00

    Gates open

Arrive. Find your spot on the lawn. Something to eat, something cold, no hurry.

  2. 17:00

    Opening act

Two hours in, the afternoon finds its rhythm. Shadows get longer. So do the conversations.

  3. 18:00

    Main act

The sun drops. The music rises. This is the hour people come back for.

  4. Before dark

    Home

The last song lands while there is still light in the sky. Drive home in it.

Before you come

  • Gates open at 15:00 and the first act plays at 17:00. Those two hours are not dead time — they are the part people forget to plan for and then remember afterwards. Arrive early, eat something, pick your spot.
